Buying Samir by Kimberly Rae
Jasmina has found a home with a family of missionaries who had rescued her from a life of slavery. She gives that all up to find her brother Samir whom she sets out to rescue him from slavery. Through her search of her brother, she discovers more slavery and human trafficking. In fact, her brother Samir, is in the middle of this world and has given up his sister.
This story continues Jasmina’s story which began in Capturing Jasmina. This story can be read as a standalone without reading this first in the series. The story does give the reader a glimpse into the world of human trafficking in India. It was a quick read but did not really go to deep into the character of Samir and to quickly she steals and breaks rules to find her brother. This book could be used to give to teens to start the discussion of human trafficking in other parts of the world. However to really get an idea of how the plight of one being held against their will in the world of human trafficking, I would recommend Trafficked by Kim Purcell.
