An Untamed Heart by Lauraine Snelling
Twenty-year-old Ingeborg Strand is a single young lady in Sweden beginning to believe she will be an old maid for life. Every year she and her siblings go up the mountain for the summer to graze the cows and prepare for the winter. Ingeborg loves the peacefulness of the mountains and looks forward to this time every year. This summer is a little different when she meets a university student from Oslo who has fallen and injured himself on the mountain. Ingeborg believes she has found her soul mate and begins to plan a future with him until tragedy strikes and he is killed. Ingeborg again begins to believe she is destined to never marry when fate steps in and an opportunity to go to America presents itself with only one hitch…she must marry widower Roald Bjorklund.
An Untamed Heart is the prequel to Lauraine Snelling’s Red River Valley series written almost twenty years ago. For fans of the series, An Untamed Heart does not disappoint. If anything, it makes the reader want to go back and revisit this wonderful series. For those readers who unfamiliar with the Red River Valley series, this is a great introduction to the Bjorklund family. Ms. Snelling is a great storyteller and her series shows that skill and her ability to write heartwarming and developed characters. This title is a quick and enjoyable read.
